The P2W to be concerned about is the ability to buy progression or in-game advantage with real money throughout the life of the game. Sounds like they've done a good job getting rid of that, which is a good thing.
Unless DICE changed the way BF works for unlocks, you have to earn all of them early on with micro-transactions disabled. You're telling me someone who has 11 days more play time vs someone fresh day one is on the same playing level in BF? I never claimed it was full p2w, but in the early stages of player progression for the launch of BFV, its sure reads like it. For me its not a big issue, but i do see.

Sure, just like someone who buys the game a month after release and starts playing is at the same disadvantage. But like I said, that disadvantage goes away pretty quickly as you progress, unlike past P2W schemes where you were perpetually at a disadvantage if you didn't spend money. Also, keep in mind that in terms of early access you're only gaining an advantage once you can play against people coming in later. During the early access periods it will be an even playing field, and then any sort of advantage you might gain will be quickly mitigated by the staggered release schedule as players gradually trickle in and ramp up quickly.

Bottom line, if a head start and a day or two of punishing newer players with better weapons is important to you, buy one of the deluxe editions or EA all access.

It's not much of a WWII battlefield game either. I'm the biggest battlefield fan and bf5 looks like it will be a huge disappointment.

Series definitely fell off after BF4. Thankfully that game is still surprisingly active

Still waiting for my 2142 sequel.

The goalposts shift with every release. Bad Company 2 was a disappointment because it had smaller maps and no air vehicles... then people thought back on BC2 fondly once BF3 released and BF3 was a huge disappointment due to people wanting a true BF2 successor... then BF3 was remembered fondly and BF4 was the huge disappointment because it was full of bugs, bad netcode, and was basically a reskin of BF3... then BF1 came out and it was a huge disappointment because it wasn't balanced, had guns that weren't historically accurate, bad progression system, lack of customization.... etc. Now people that are railing on BFV will probably start saying BF1 was a better game.

So the cycle continues...

Maybe some of the fan base is that way but I wasn't a fan of 1942, BF1, and likely BFV for the same reason - I have no interest in WW1/WW2 games. They feel too slow. I'm likely going to buy BFV whenever it drops from $59.99, but if I put more than 5 hours into it I'll be surprised.

Yo its called the rule of numbers, look it up. Only a little bit of common sense was needed for you to avoid making this obviously flawed generalization.

I've personally never had any issues with any of the BF games and don't really consider any to be majorly disappointing in anyway. Usually it was a bit of a trade off when features were lost. The issue with bf5 is that they've already done WWII and it was great, and instead of doing that again on a more modern engine, they're "focusing on smaller less known aspects of WWII". When I heard about BF5 I thought, hell yes I can't wait to dive bomb an aircraft carrier or play D-Day, (two major staples of WWII, and both things possible in the fist bf game) but no, that stuff is missing. Bf5 looks like COD with a few vehicles talked on rather than a full scale BF game.

EA guarantees that BFV will not be pay-to-win struggles to maintain relevance with core gamers and will soon be renamed to "FUT Corporation".

I'm surprised they don't have Fifa Pachinko machines yet.

Enlighten me, lol. Every single Battlefield game since BF2 and the advent of massive sharing platforms like YouTube (and many other AAA games) has initially been met with massive criticisms and hate- likely due to the counter culture to publishers trying to market games, and the inability for people to be their own consumer as they are peddling some opinion piece from a famous youtuber rather than forming their own. Regardless, it is funny to see the consensus then shift after a release or two and suddenly these "terrible" games were the best in the franchise.

Just you wait until Battlefield 7 is coming out and it is some travesty, and how the franchise really went down hill after Battlefield 5. lol.
