[Kotaku] Command & Conquer Rivals Isn't What Fans Wanted, But It's Fun

https://kotaku.com/command-conquer-r...its-1826810397

Can we just have a minute to put up this pinata and smash it to pieces?

Quote:
Yes, the new Command & Conquer game EA announced at E3 2018 is a free-to-play online only mobile game. This news is disappointing for fans of the classic RTS franchise who were hoping to get a brand new, fully-fledged PC C&C game. Even if the new mobile game, Command & Conquer Rivals, contains references and characters from the older games, this isn’t a traditional RTS game. But while Command & Conquer Rivals might not be the true sequel some fans have been wanting, it’s a surprisingly fun and tactical mobile game that feels inspired by Clash Royale and Star Wars: Force Arena.

Man that's super disappointing. I really loved the C&C series as a youth... I've played the multiplayer with a mate a few times but the old graphics and units make it a bit bland... would love to see a new modern version. Fingers crossed.

New generations was raised with phones stick gods know where , they live like horses with blinders paying for apps they dont really care, headless, just to be connected to each others . It's dishonoring the license, like diablo, it's just spitting on gamers. i play some good campaign on C&C red Alert (the very old one), one of the best strategy moment in my life. Not sure you can have that feeling on a mobile. Developpers who build that crap just reveal they dont understand the game at all except for lucrative reason. I dont care how powerful a mobile can be, it's just nurture for the pig generation. Thank you google play, for trashing our games.

This is nothing more than a C&C skinned version of Total War Battles: Shogun from a few years ago.
That was fun but short lived before being canned.
I suspect this C&C will also vanish in a year or so.

C&C was pretty damn state of the art for the time... I'm pretty sure in the next 10-15 years, Crysis will look bland by comparison to what we'll have then. Don't see how that makes it okay to bastardize the namesake into something truly bland and unoriginal for the sake of money.
