What bothers me is that Gabe always said he wouldn't do HL3 because the hype would be unreal. Well......you flopped hard on Artifact, and your last couple games besides have been fairly lackluster. Who cares if HL3 isn't perfect, you need to get back to making good games. No better way to regain relevance than to give the people what they want.

Take the Sandy Bridge over Devil's Canyon to get to Skylake.

Or, facing the possibility to have "flop 3" (a curse for the rest of the company's life), if they continue out of their way like this, they'll embark into making a good game called HL 2 ep.3, the curse will be put away and we'll live a happy gaming life until the last of our days

They could make a quality half life 3 true to it's roots, on a modern engine, with multiplayer available to modding, and they would be the richest people in gaming. Don't know why they keep staring this massive cashcow in the face and turning a blind eye.

I'd assume that they realize just how high the stakes are. If, for any reason, HL3 flops, they will probably not be able to earn back people's trust as a game developer.

I don't know how to tell you this man... because you're man friend, and I hate to see you in pain like this. But... but Valve... Valve has moved on... He is seeing other business ventures now. Gabe has this online storefront, and it is looking pretty serious. It might be time for you to start seeing other games. I mean, it's been fourteen years man. It's over. It has been over for a long time.

But hey, there are plenty of great looking games out there! Chin up bro. You'll find your threequel, I just now it. The perfect game for you is out there somewhere.

How long can it last? Most of the big games have their own platform now. Steam is getting almost nothing. Steam needs to come up with "Originals" now. Just like they did at first they have to show others. If things go this way Steam will just go back to being CS and Dota client and slowly die off with those games.
