I remember a time when Activision made the best games....

...for the Atari.

The level locking is disgusting and there seems to not be any generator for missions. Overall game turns into a pay for cosmetics or grind to death.

Doubtful any of this will change simply due to who owns what. It's not like Bungie follows commands anyway.
I take it you’re not one for looter shooters? Destiny certainly has a gameplay loop that is not for everyone, but once you’re in you’re in.

If anything this divorce will be good for the morale at Bungie. I can only hope that it increases the quality of the products now that the company is free to execute on its own vision. A positive change, but not the answer to all of D2’s problems.

Nice to see Bungie taking back control of their own Destiny.
(Sorry, I'm sure you've read that a dozen times by now.)

I haven't played any Destiny games and Activision was certainly a big part of that. As soon as Bungie can figure out a new distribution method I'll probably take a swing at it.
