for all intent & purposes, these current consoles are the V1 merging point.

Xbox is gonna start releasing w/ a Windows Lite experience, which you can sub towards for 365 access on your console.
iirc... I am working straight from memory here and I just turned the big nickel last month... But iirc Bill Gates(back when he was running M$) actually stated it when they announced XBox v1. In that same Presser, he stated "PC Gaming is dead".

This was prior to the start of the 21st century y2k era.

Dude was trying to sell consoles.

If you're selling bananas, are you going to focus on how apples and oranges are still very viable fruits ?

PC gaming... dead? That's just stupid marketing hype nonsense. I don't think they ever really believed that would happen way back then, but it definitely makes more sense now that consoles & PCs are all running on the same kinda stuff. Statements of "killers" should be ignored. It's incredibly rare anything ever just up & dies these days (even MMOS!) please don't mistake my comment for an all or nothing. I didn't mean you wouldn't see anyone gaming on PC anymore. However, console game play & PC game play are nearly indistinguishable at this point as it is, unless you have an incredibly well trained eye to notice the subtle nuances of higher resolutions, etc.

no, i'd focus on something like the grapple of banana...

some sorta merger is going to come in the near future. Maybe it'll be consoles & game streaming. That seems more likely now that I think about it. Those streaming services are slowly but surely becoming viable options for non-competitive game play. I could definitely see having local & streamed in content available in the same box. Nvidia is actually already doing this on the Shield Device. You can run android games from the box, or stream in games from NV, or stream in games from your home system. (along with all the other smart TV options built in + 500gb ssd)

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

My only purpose of my last post was to point to the general when of the statement. I purposely left out my thoughts because I like people to form their own opinion. I know it was marketing hype. Bill Gates said it however so a lot of people took his statements to heart.

Pretty sure I could tell the difference between Console v. PC graphics. Only way I couldn't tell is if the PC were being limited in some way. Either CPU clock speed, or lowering the settings in the GPU performance.

I truly would love to see someone do a comparative between console and PC. I have seen platform v. platform in budget PC gaming but a blind test comparative with PC set to low.

But I could still tell the difference. lol

A good indication is fighting games. In the past, fighting games were never really released on PC. Now it's hard to find one that isn't on PC.
