[Digital Trends] Metro Exodus update brings DLSS improvements to Nvidia RTX 20-series PCs

Source: https://www.digitaltrends.com/comput...vidia-rtx-pcs/

Quote:
The first post-launch update — version 1.0.1.1 if you purchased the Epic Store, or version 1.0.0.1 if you purchased Steam — brings fixes and improvements for DLSS to “improve overall sharpness” in the game. It also delivers otherwise undisclosed “RTX fixes and optimizations.” Other than the fixes for Nvidia’s graphics cards, the update introduces general stability improvements, a VFX fix for DX11, and benchmarking tool enhancements.

Wow, so basically neural networks get better over time and the merit of these features depends on how the developer implements them ?

I think the Port Royal DLSS benchmark is the best case example for DLSS so if real games can even get close to that kind of quality, that would be something. Whether it's feasible in the long term for Nvidia to allocate resources to train the NN with every game, remains to be seen. I would like to see some DLSS love given to 3440x1440 though, seeing that DLSS seems to have been designed to benefit 4K workloads the most.

Better than the utter trash it looked like before but....
Keep trying maybe 6 months after a game comes out nvidias team will be able to fix all ai bugs and make it look almost as good as 1680 upscaled..
Also I don't think it will work out in long run seems to many problems for there ultra smart tensor cores...lol need to train constantly
at least I have some hope for rtx

They have to be training the AI prior to the game launch especially for SP games which live a short life of relevance.

Well then, I suggest we check back in a couple of years

Yeah, tbh I initially thought that 2x would be the only DLSS mode. You can permit much more inaccuracies vs upscaling.
