Denuvo probably has rendering set to interlaced which is some sort of checker board rendering. The performance increase is massive with interlaced but looks worse.

I'm averaging around 200 in the first scene area on Interlaced and 170 when set to Normal.

Edit: Running at 4k the game runs at 105 FPS, with Interlaced at max it's running at 144 FPS.

I never buy any Denuvo game anyway. There are wayy too many nice game without draconian DRM. Stick to that.

Denuvo will always have a performance impact, no matter how small, as it is an additional overhead. Even with a dedicated decryption module on hardware, it will still reduce performance. Bad DRM which doesn't even serve it's purpose any more, and just angers loyal customers.

Interlaced is as old as black and white TV.

Yep, it's common trick in just about every field of video.

I'm aware of its age but it's not that common for game developers to include it as an option. Just pointing out the Denuvo-free version executable might be setting interlaced as default.

Does anyone have any input on the game or should I make a thread? Just started playing FFXV but it runs like garbage.

I'm enjoying it a lot, and take this from someone who get's bored of games easily these days. It's fun, action packed and just keeps you moving.

I do too...well sort of.
I don't get bored with good games but I see through the BS quickly. If you game has so little content that you have to force necessary grinding in every aspect of the game, I can spot it within a few hours and that's the end for me.
I feel like there's 1 or 2 AAA titles a year that really got it right in most aspects.
I was looking forward to Anthem but it appears to be a shoot and loot game with no loot. The combat looks amazing and so does the environment and I want to play SO BADLY but they ruined it. I understand the time and effort it takes to get a game as good as it is now but I shouldn't have been released without a solid story and loot that rivals that of Borderlands.
Tbh I absolutely HATE the state FFXV is in but the story seems to be there and the gameplay is very good. The game looks good but not so good that I should be averaging 60fps and dips into the 30s.

I'll be downloading DMC5 from the looks of it, thanks. I've never played one and it indeed looks fantastic.

Well pirates are able to play the game already, which proves it.

Given that it's a test version, it's essentially a beta so more than likely there are further optimizations that are leading to more improvements but are not yet deemed stable enough for full release.

edit: Or denovo runs like crap/is poorly implemented on the RE2 engine.

Are there any titles developed on RE2 that had denovo but it was later removed, like monster hunter per chance?
There has actually been 20+ frame difference in a title before. I forgot which one it was but the benchmark shows 20+ difference in minimum fps. I think the difference would be even more on a weaker CPU in that case.

It's not a beta. QA team was testing it after the game's release so it's the final version of the game which the team would test for bugs / future patches. It doesn't make sense to quality check a beta version of the game.

RE7 runs on the same engine and had denuvo removed but I couldn't find a benchmark for it before and after denuvo. This one could be an interesting test tho for comparison!
However, it's not about the engine per say but more about the game itself. You can have two games on same engine with different implementation of denuvo causing different amounts of performance loss.
