[[H]ard OCP] Epic's Tim Sweeney Calls Store Exclusives "Procompetitive"

Quote:
As controversy continues to mount, Tim Sweeney has returned to social media to justify store exclusives and defend the Epic Games Store from accusations it is bribing its way to the top with anti-competitive practices. Sweeney seems to believe the criticism is unfair because there’s nothing stopping Steam and other storefronts from playing his game, pointing out partnerships are a perfectly legit way of doing business. From where he’s standing, exclusives are "procompetitive," in that they compel other stores to differentiate themselves.

"I get that you guys don’t like store-exclusive games, but that’s a completely separate, and PROCOMPETITIVE issue, compared to closing down platforms like Windows to monopolize distribution, as iOS does, and as Microsoft was trying to do with UWP and locked-down versions of Windows -- which failed, and whose proponents are now gone and replaced with great leaders like Satya Nadella and Phil Spencer who are driving Windows forward as an open platform!"

Tim Sweeny is full of it.

Fortnight and its mass pleb/bubble head appeal allowed this anti-competitive/anti-consumer mess to happen.

30% is too high and its not like Valve put their games on other platforms. Just more anti anything steam nonsense. Competition is good for consumers.

I still don't understand why it's OK to be exclusive to Steam or Origin but if anyone does it on the Epic store it's a big deal.

Which games are steam & origin exclusive, not owned/developed by Valve/EA? Genuinely asking.

does epic store allow me to move my whole games folder to another computer.(like Steam)? That is the reason, I quit buying EA titles on pc. Just play them on the console that way I can take my console with me. That is one of the reasons I prefer steam, I know a lot of people here do not like steam any more. That is your business, This is just my opinion so do not flame spray me.(Please!!!!!!!)

You actually can do this with Origin. I forget exactly how but I've done it and it wasn't difficult.

Well, you can move whole games folder to another PC with Origin as well lol. Pretty sure epic store will allow that as long as you log into same account.

This is one of the reason I stayed away from origin. I guess I will install origin and a game and test this. But steam is just way to easy drag and drop.
