Anyone managed to find a download or find out when will they make the Q2RTX public?
So far no info to be had it seems. Come on Nvidia researchers, leak it! Q2 engine is public anyway etc. so you're probably even obligated to by the license

It took a 2080TI (assuming) to make a 22 year old game look like a 15 year old game. You can enjoy all this for the low cost of $999...or $1200-$1600 if you go by what you'll actually need to spend.
Man, I bet all the early adopters will be here soon to rub it in our faces just how wrong we were.

The future is amazing, we're now smart enough to know that we can't make anything special anymore and can now focus on re-making things that were already good a generation ago.

That is the old vkQuake it doesn't have tracing be it ray or path. The path traced Quake is a different project too. This NVquake seems proprietary and not released if ever...

Q2RTX is supposedly a hybrid. Not a pure path trace.
It should be released eventually, my guess is maybe in May.

Q2VKPT patches:

You crack me up regarding your post on this thread. Q2RTX is fully path traced, it's based on Q2VKPT but with added features. The developer that created Q2VKPT is helping with Q2RTX.

First 15 seconds of the link you provided the developer of Q2VKPT Christoph Schied, says that nVidia placed extensions on top of Q2VKPT.

It looks good for Quake 2, but nothing amazing. I suspect they could achieve basically the same thing with other more updates lighting techniques. Still cool though. I would be interested to see how this runs on GTX cards since if anything traced would run well on a GTX card, it would probably be this I guess.
