Here is one thing everyone is forgetting about borderlands, it is built on the Unreal Engine so of course it will be released on EPIC first, It will be a trend now that we see in future that any game that is built with the Unreal Engine will be exclusive to Epic first.

That depends entirely on licensing agreements on whether it is a requirement for Epic Store release

Like I said, I'm totally hyped with BL3, but I'm just wondering how long the 6 months of Epic Store exclusive will *really* last.
Is GB going to risk having the majority of their sales slip into Q2 2020 or will they manage to shorten the exclusive period once all the hyped people will have come to the Epic Store ?

Epic store sucks and i will never purchase anything off there because of their involvement with Tencent. It's not spyware though.

So this is from a ex steam developer, interesting read, this will add more fire to the Steam vs Epic feud right now.

"A 12% cut will let developers invest more heavily into their games"

If Steam lowers its cut Epic will secure exclusives with greater upfront payments. It would only hurt their bottom line and still get no exclusives. So the logical thing to do is to keep things as they are.

The Fortnite revenue stream could die tomorrow as it is just a fade and I don't know how are they going to keep up with the exclusive strategy if that happens.

If they thought they could force Valve's hand, they're complete fools.

Well, I think Steam needs to move. Quick. 30% is high and seemingly hurts devs, so this will need to be adjusted ...
I just realised minutes ago Steam AT LAST, FOR PETE'S SAKE, has set up some anti review bombing measures.
Really about time ! This shows they're listening. I woulddn't be surprised they lower their margin on distribution.

Devs can also generate keys that unlock the game on steam that does not get the 30% given to Valve. Only sales through the steam store itself are 30%.

I'm going to wait for GOTY version just like last time.
In BL2 it was less of an issue but in the pre-sequel, it felt they took a lot of the game out just to add it to the season pass.
