And to put a name on it; It's called Warcraft III Reforged. https://playwarcraft3.com/en-us/

Oh and a video to get your blood pumping

I got caught in the hype and got myself a copy of WC3 Reforged... and then realized it isn't out yet :'(

I come from the net. Through systems, peoples and cities to this place: Mainframe. My format: Guardian; to mend and defend. To defend my new-found friends, their hopes and dreams. To defend them from their enemies. They say the user lives outside the net and inputs games for pleasure. No one knows for sure, but I intend to find out. Reboot!

Agreed. They put love and work into making them work. Saves me the time. Been a GOG member a long time now.

Me too... I thought it said "Dec 2018"... was devo'd when I saw that the 8 is in fact a 9. Super keen for it... might even jump back into the map editor and muck around like I used to.

GoG does very little to most of the legacy titles they sell, and a lot of them don't run correctly on modern systems. I've had huge issues with many of their less frequently updated titles on Windows 10 and many of their DOS games require me to rip them apart and reconfigure the DOXBox settings they use for an optimal experience.

I appreciate what they do (and I have spent thousands of dollars on GoG), but the idea that a game license is tied to the install media is completely mistaken in most cases. Were you to acquire a copy of any title you still had a license to, it would be entirely legal to install and use, in most jurisdictions.

Thanks for saying it, spot on.

And keep in mind that DOSBox development is pretty much stalled. I've had way more success with PCEm.

The WC3 editor was a lot of fun. So much you could do! I loved the custom game scene back in the day.

Indeed, it was my childhood playing (and making) those custom games. Got me into programming it did. I'm interested to see what people will be able to create with a modern version of it. I wonder if all the old maps will be compatible... that'd be interesting.

Downloaded and played warcraft II yesterday and I have to say it feels so dated I just shut it down.

It needs a refresh without the Hero managing bull.

That's what turned me off RTS is all that hero and special ability monument management, things like who could build a nuke first, time sensitive scenarios, etc... For me the best RTS ever will always be Dune II.
