here's what they need to do to really take it to the next level.

build a VOIP system& guild services/hosting into your launcher. That would actually be worth a damn.

"all your games in one place" hey! Steam does that "add non-steam game"
all your friends in one place, highly unlikely.

I understand you need to go 100km/h straight into a wall. Some would like to avoid it. So I would like an option that lets me to do so. I didn't ask it to be "simple". It can be as complicated as it wants. If 99% of the features are disabled, fine. I don't want them, even if they can run.
Where are you getting "driving 100km/h into a wall"? You yourself said :

I don't care about achievements, and I don't want it to list all the games I own or all my friends list.
What do you even mean you don't want it to list all games you own? I mean that's what they're planning to do. To centralize your game library provided you add your game library details. If you do not want it to know what you own elsewhere or whom you're friends with, don't sign up for it.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

Everyone say that, and 1 day later go 180.

But they also collect and use that information to sell you specific things. They don't tell you that something new came up, that is just as good and cheaper, if you constantly buy the same thing.
Or they know that you would still buy a pack of something even if the size is reduced by 10%, so they can use that to tell their suppliers "same price, smaller package, he will still buy it".
Or if they know that people in a certain area buy something constantly, they can share that with suppliers, and those can rise the price in the area by 20%, and people will still buy it.
Or you suddenly see google and facebook ads of certain brands of items on websites a day before you usually put your store order, which could influence you to buy those things.

There is good and bad with every data collection. Problem is that it is being abused for the worse.
And for what you describe, there is no real need for data collection to just save your preferred items.

I'm not naive, but I also don't have an over developed sense of self-importance either.

As for the bolded part, you're completely wrong. They do exactly that.

You don't want companies to collect data on you? Fine. But don't come on here trying to describe some apocolyptic fate for those who simply don't care whether companies track the paper I wipe my ass with or the toothpaste I buy or the games I play most often.

Believe me when I tell you......you're not that important.

better put the phone in a lead box, and disconnect your internet if you don't wanna be data-mined. As it's happening as we speak on every one of our machines no matter how we set them up.

well, i mean there's always the last resort of deleting sys32, this typically helps with preventing data collection

PC gaming has been dying for the last few years and as far as I am concerned is already in the grave with what the AAA industry has done to it. Reminds me of the poopstorm of the 80s.

I have been enjoying the Hell out of the Analogue SuperNT, revisiting the old library, and can't wait for the GBA Consolizer to arrive.

Hopefully Doom Eternal brings a little something back.

we're most definitely at the end-of-console-life lull, quite similar to what we experienced right before ps4,xb1 n keplar released.

microtransactions that actually benefit you IF you get the right roll are just the new hats.
