If Microsoft is involved, i dont think they want to indirectly admit that their hardware product is inferior.
For CDPR having RTX support is a good thing because they get ready for Next gen consoles. We will wait and see. Witcher 3 did mess up with HairWorks.

I don't know man. The inventory system was horrendous. I'm all for the game to look the best it can and that will include ray tray. Gamers will upgrade for this game and Nvidia knows full well they will.

Confirmed.

And Ubersampling in Witcher 2...
edit: Nextgen Xbox would be again AMD based... compatibility with RTX... probably non-existant.

Which reminds me that demo which featured RayTracing in common CryEngine using standard hardware looked quite ... "cyberpunky". But I am not definitely upgrading from Radeon VII to 2080. Another 600 dollars for one effect to tick in options menu... Not really. But i admit it looks really nice.

definitely agree witcher menus were terrible. So bad that the only way to do a new game + is with the mods that auto-apply oils, etc & adds all sorts of other "well, they definitely overlooked that" type stuff.

still, the CD Projekt of today is not the CD Projekt of the Witcher 3. They're many times larger now.

Best R0ach Quote of all time : TLDR: Haswell might be the last legit gaming platform unless mice get their own non-USB interface on some newer architecture.

Couldn't even tell you the last time I used my optical drive. That's a very niche component at this point in time, I would guess.

You should feel ecstatic if you're an enthusiast. Being worried about a toggle in the game settings is not something that I'd deem a legitimate excuse to halt progress; let alone when it's the most revolutionary step toward graphical fidelity in the last 2 decades.

RTX support or not, what matters is that the game is popular, (seemingly) very well done, and can be path/ray traced. That's all I need to know as a potential buyer, and I'll let AMD and nVidia fight over whose hardware and/or software implementation is the best.

Hold your horses there.

We were able to check out a behind closed doors demo of the new RTX enabled build of Cyberpunk 2077, and while CDPR didn't explicitly state what sorts of ray tracing effects are being used, it did mention the use of global illumination and dynamic lighting effects in the game. There are also plenty of reflective surfaces, but those might be using screen space reflections. Either way, if there's a game that can potentially convince people that it's time to pick up an RTX card, this is the best candidate to date.
The author never confirmed a Nvidia card nor RTX specifically being used in the demo he saw. The author only claimed it was RTX based on no other tangible information to a private event they were in. They only referenced a blog post by Nvidia. For an event they were alleged to have attended? That's just ain't right.

I'm sure it was ray traced. But it's not clear if the computer used was AMD, Nvidia or a hybrid next gen console build that was kept under wraps.

Nvidia's gott'em. I should've uploaded the tweet too, but this is from the official site.
