I'm sure that's what Intel and many other have said as well when paying companies to do business only with them and no one else. They are paying them to release something for their platform I have no problem with that but they are also paying them to NOT release it for any other platform and that's the issue.

Sony’s latest thinking puts less stress on overall sales numbers and more on the most-profitable segment of the market: the devoted fans who buy big-budget titles, such as Bethesda Softworks LLC’s “Fallout” series and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.’s “Red Dead Redemption.”
And this is why Microsoft doesn’t particularly care if they only have 40% of the install base, if your core users are served and you can keep expanding that userbase then your business is doing ok. Now here we have Sony themselves saying that Microsoft was right all along.

I bought the launch base Xbox One for Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 6, and the PS4 Pro for Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Spiderman and Detroit Become Human. I'll probably buy the next gen Xbox for gaming in the lounge if I get a 4K120 variable refresh TV at some point because it looks like it'd match the performance of a pc it'd build instead with less hassle and the ability to play 4k bluerays.

Only problem with using Intel's example to conclude Sony & Microsoft are being anti-moneybags is that Intel used it's position to force AMD out of the market by giving kickbacks to OEM's who used Intel chips instead of AMD which would have left consumers with Intel being the only choice. Naughty Dog isn't the only developer who produces Tomb Raider nor is Square Enix the only one who publishes Uncharted. And niether of them are going to make the console unusable if either or both were not going to come bundled with the console. Anti-consumer is just not being the only choice the consumer has for said product which isn't the case in the entire entertainment industry.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

i uh... k. we'll know what it really is when we see it. Just like every time. Their marketing teams know their segments really well. This was just to let all those "yeah i'm gonna buy PS5 over XboxScary" know that they've made the right cognitive decision in fanboying PS5. Now from here till release it'll be "yeah well, PS5 is the definition of hard core gaming. XBs is just a peasant box"

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

Plus nowadays there aren't even that many hard core games to begin with as most games have been dumbed down to promote sales to casuals.

Never bought a console, don't see why now I should Sony, really don't. You got nothing to offer other than money to developers to release certain titles only for your platform aka anti customer practices.
It's not anti-consumer at all. I take it you have never had a job where you sign a no-compete clause on your contract have you?

A second Sony official said the company believes people buy a videogame console to play graphics-heavy games.
The only option is games that prioritize graphics over refresh rate and gameplay. SO because people buy the only option available, they believe people must like that option?

Consoles are a DOWNGRADE in graphics not something you pick for the graphics.

They really will say anything to justify their illusions
