After seeing the digital foundry video I went out and installed SEUS E6 and tested it on my crappy rig, 1060 3G + 2200g.

It ran at 30FPS 1080p and looked incredible. Really pisses me off Nvidia or AMD don’t bring this type of tech to the masses. If it can look this good and perform this well, *** is nvidia doing?

It's not really up to Nvidia and AMD to add feature to games, and the fact that it can be done with a mod proves the tech is there and ready to use. Other games use it, it's up to the dev.

Be annoyed with Microsoft for choosing to update the game in a way that is really inefficient when there are better methods available.

Curious if they are going to implement OptiX or are they going out of their way to make an entire new Minecraft game based off of DirectX to utilize DxR?

Doesn't the Win10 version of Minecraft already run DirectX?

Minecraft even on Windows 10 uses OpenGL due to Java. I highly doubt they'll create a DirectX based version just for DxR.

You need to stop assuming things on Minecraft threads dude.

Minecraft Bedrock, aka "Mobile"/Win10 store version (the one that will get RTX), is C++, not Java, and RTX is going to be done via DirectX.

I'm basing it off the Minecraft I installed the other day from the Minecraft website that I used to test SUES PTGI.

Thanks for confirming they have a C++ version. I never look at the Windows 10 app store.

This is because you are a sane human being. The Java version is the defacto version for almost all PC users as it is the one with all the server plugin and mod support, but every other platform uses the C++ version.

That being said, the C++ version runs insanely well. I did a 1.7.10 vs 1.14.2 Java FPS test a while back:

Spoiler!

And compared to the C++ version, 1.14.2 is pathetically slow.

That is why this 1080p/60 target for RTX is embarrassing. Modern GPUs have more than enough power to brute force higher performance on a worse codebase in legacy OpenGL than the Tensor cores can pull off with every advantage under the sun including access to the actual source code. It's sad.
