Indie versus AAA gaming thing is no different to the situation with theatrical movies.

There are some awesome low budget Indie films out there. The "Dust" channel on youtube for example has some amazing sci-fi short films with impressive special effects. However you are never going to see something with special effects at the level of Lord of the Rings, Avatar or Avengers:End Game from an indie producer, they simply do not have the budget.

Games are in much the same boat.

Leisure suit Larry in the land of the Lounge Lizards cost 59.99 in 1991, no steam, no epic, just 5 1/4 floppies (that still work), 30 years ago. We can complain all we like but the price will remain whatever the market will bear, arguing about who gets what percentage seems moot. And you don't have to load the launch programs at boot, so whats the issue really, the issue I have is what happens when Epic or Wargaming.net or others fail, people have sunk a small fortune into those very young platforms and have no physical product to show for it or server to play on after producer shuts down servers.

Guess I'm just a crotchety ol fogey living in my physical media past. Get yer ball of my lawn Epic.
