GTA III - ran terribly (first time using the RenderWare)
Vice City - ran very well
Max Payne - ran very well
Max Payne 2 - ran very well
San Andreas - ran very well
Bully - ran very well (but controls on PC were terrible, using a controller is pretty much a requirement)
GTA IV + DLCs - ran terribly (first games using RAGE)
Max Payne 3 - ran very well
LA Noire - ran very well (albeit capped at 30fps because of the animations)
GTA V - ran very well (and is in fact still used to benchmark GPU performance 4 years after launch, only other games I can think of that got used in benchmarks this long is the Crysis series)
So out of 10 games released, only 2 of them run like garbage and both of those games were the first time they were using a new game engine
