[DSOG] NVIDIA has created a gaming studio to remaster classic PC games with Ray Tracing effects

Quote:
“We’re cherry-picking some of the greatest titles from the past decades and bringing them into the ray tracing age. Thus, we’ll be giving them state-of-the-art visuals while keeping the gameplay that made them great. The NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios team is picking up the challenge starting with a title that you know and love but we can’t talk about here.”

Quake 3 Arena (or the open source version Open Arena) seems like a good candidate. It'll be 20 years old in December, it would be a nice way to commemorate. Now just drop the prices on the RTX cards, Nvidia. Nostalgia by itself won't make an x60 tier card for 500 € seem more palatable.

Finally Nvidia putting some effort into bringing RT to the forefront after the RTX disaster year and half ago.

Now with this, Nvidia could compete with EGS, Steam and others with a niche selection of games that becomes their tech demo.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

This would be fantastic. I don't think it would push me to buy an RTX card, but this is the sort of thing we should have seen with RTX's launch. Here's hoping for Supreme Commander: RTX

only if they can do it and use Cryengine V if they cant use Cryengine V better they should leave it as is, because using Cryengine 2 is going to make it perform really bad

even i think can make Crysis in CEV just fine without needing RTX

If Nvidia can partner with M$ (Minecraft), dang, the sky is the limit.

That was my first thought as well. Probably the most likely candidate along with Portal.

Crytek just straight up needs to remake Crysis 1, re-release it in a new engine with ray tracing enabled, modernize gameplay mechanics a little bit, maybe fix that ending lmao, and it'll make lots of money.

Anyways my vote goes to Bioshock or Dead Space.

3600x | IF @1866 | PBO disabled | SoC voltage offset: -0.05v (1.05v total) | Thermalright TSP 140
Micron Rev E 2x8GB @3733 CL16 1.35v | (FAST preset w/ GDM on) | BLS2K8G4D30AESBK
ASUS x470 Prime Pro w/ ABBA BIOS
EVGA RTX 2060
