Consider The Outer Worlds if you want that good Fallout feel without the Bethesda bugs or general ick.

They killed several remake projects which wanted to recreate Fallout 1/2 in 3D using newer 3D games like New Vegas.
Each time it was about reusing some content from older games.

Personally I cannot bring myself to play the older 2D ones.
While plot is great, the gameplay is not really. I don't like the VATS only round-based gameplay.
In 3D games VATS is optional and you can play in real-time.

Even the fastest pc in the world cannot beat imagination.

Oh yeah I've been playing the crap out of that! Actually on my second play thru now. A little too short but its a great game. Can't wait for more content to come to that.

I'm totally with you on that. I wasn't exposed to Fallout until FO3 came out and then I tried the older ones and couldn't do it. I did read all the story stuff and enjoyed it.

woot

sounds like their t1 support department is disgruntled, which doesn't help the situation at all. I can almost envision the manager of the department after this video.

following the rules to the blind letter of the law = rarely useful in tech services, aside from protecting yourself with proper SLAs.

Lol I have never been able to completely play through an entire Fallout game before - eventually my savegame gets stuck in an area where the next interaction with a person causes the game to crash. I'm so glad I try games before I buy them - these developers never saw a cent from me, all these years. Uninstalled immediately.

On the other hand, I've tried Far Cry series of games and went right to the Ubisoft store to purchase a legitimate copy. Some may complain about those games, but at least I could play them without crashes.

Fallout 4 is actually a masterpiece compared to 76. Consider that one for a snack.

I went from old school gaming where there were no game clients, to seeing what Steam was all about and enjoy it for a moment in time and then see it slowly devolve into a hat factory that robbed Valve of its aura of game developer and unfortunately spilled over to other developers who now imbue their ecosystem with micro transaction philosophy from top to bottom, to switching over to GOG and almost never looking back. The last game I bought on Steam was Doom (2016). And I make it a principle to download everything from GOG without the optional game client, I only do the off-line backup install downloads, it's the only way to ensure that DRM-free stays as more than just an ideal without practical consequence.

As to hardware, it's never been better (overall speaking) now with AMD on the CPU scene. The other day I was checking prices, and even the Ryzen 7 2700 is now below 180 € and you can buy a first gen Ryzen 5 1600 for ~ 100 €, a second gen 2600 for ~140 € and heck, a quad core Ryzen 3 1200 for an unbelievable ~ 50 €. You can build a pretty good system right now. With SLI and CrossFire dead, the end result in the price of a high end gaming rig compared to ten years ago is actually not that different, it's still thousands of dollars / euros for a complete super enthusiast gaming rig. That's not to say that the prices on GPUs are ideal right now, they absolutely aren't, hence why I'm skipping all the 12nm / 7nm gens. I'm also hoping that next gens will come with AV1 hardware acceleration. I sure hope that GPU makers capitalize on the cost reductions of using 7nm EUV and return GPU prices to some sanity.
Nice
