I think they are referring to the production value instead of the art direction. I agree that the cinematics from D2 were a lot more engrossing, but the quality of the rendering and attention to detail is just top notch on the trailer

Edit:

Looked at the videos and they gave me a Diablo 1 vibe; demon this time being a female - the occult and the sacred feminine. The characteristics of the town outside the dungeons and not being cartoony like Diablo 3 were also reminiscent of Diablo 1. If it has save anywhere it will be time to venture into the dungeons again!
After i read your comment i had to look up the word "sacred feminine" because i was unfamiliar with it. I probably spent the next hour reading material on the subject to better understand the concepts behind it.

It's based on the archetypes of the loving mother and the devouring mother isn't it? I guess in this instance with Lilith, it would be the embodiment of chaos considering she is the daughter of Diablo and with her Angel boyfriend who would represent order, created sanctuary. Would fit nicely with standard mythologies.

Blizzard is actually calling her Lilith. Also she goes by other names like Semiramis, Ishtar (Easter), Diana, Isis and many others which is embodied in the Freemason Statue of Liberty. She is a favorite of the occult. Be warned, you are digging into a deep rabbit hole my friend.

I really want more information on how they plan to do MTX. I don't mind them as long as there is cool looking stuff I can earn in game playing normally. If there is some stuff that I can't get unless I buy it I'll survive. But if it takes the F2P model where anything that looks good is paid for I will be pissed.

Cinematic director from wow said in multiple interviews these 5min snips we get takes months so a full length movie will probably take years unless they somehow multiply their team by a lot.

concerns mount as blizzard does all the stuff they always do. Will the nostalgia be enough to save the already doomed Diablo franchise? stay tuned next week for more!

paid expansions = cya in a couple years after launch. I would'a been more likely to buy in all at once.

i'd assume the rendering time is a major slice of that pie, more so than man power.

just look @ PIXAR for example, as a comparison vs. full feature CGI film.

what's their average now? 2-4 years per film?

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

They will give you "surprise mechanics" that you will have to get in order to not have to grind your mind off for months and feel you lose stuff during seasons.

Paid expansions I completely understand and have zero problem paying for, as long as they are not part of the original game being sliced off and fed to us as DLC. Any game that has P2W or QoL micro transactions will never see a dime from me. I will however play games that have cosmetic Micros, and may even purchase them if I feel that I have already gotten my moneys worth out of the game.

I was so excited for D4 until I heard about paid expansions and micro transactions being announced before launch. Slim chance of purchasing now. #SadPanda
