[IGN] Horizon Zero Dawn Is Coming to PC, Reports Say

Quote:
Kotaku is reporting that Horizon Zero Dawn will be on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, though this is not finalized. The PC port is also expected to push the limits of the game beyond what was capable on the PS4.

I have a feeling Sony will be re-addressing their stance on Exclusives. I think the days of genuine exclusives is near dead. In exchange for timed exclusives instead.

turns out I might not have to buy a PS5 to catch up on 3 generations of missed exclusives after all

Best R0ach Quote of all time : TLDR: Haswell might be the last legit gaming platform unless mice get their own non-USB interface on some newer architecture.

MS started doing this in preparation for xCloud and i'm certain Sony will begin preparing for their own streaming service in the coming years. For them to become software as a service/cloud gaming companies, exclusives are the sacrifice they have to make.. these games will eventually need to run on PC to run from their cloud servers and im sure it's a sacrifice they're happy to make in the hopes of viably ditching the Loss Boxes before the end of this next generation, they'd rather sell you a streaming box at a profit before the subs/services than sell you a high powered console at a loss in the hopes of getting their profits from software after.

I know MS has started xcloud off on a server of xboxes, but I imagine they'd rather not have the R&D into building consoles before turning them into servers going forward, it would likely be more cost-effective to build standard servers.
If they also get to sell a few copies to our market as a side-effect its just a bonus.

They really should separate exclusive and first party studio. Easy to confuse exclusive like Epic Game Store and First Party Studio(owned by Microsoft and Sony). Maybe sony is just following microsoft and doing pc/console release at same time considering the ps4 onwards architecture is easier to translate to pc. What needs to be ported over to PC are the series made by the Console Specific Japanese Developers like Atlas (Persona) and Level-5 (Leyton)

haaaaa

we'll see. There are a few decent stories I've missed... supposedly. I'm in for PS5, if it has genuine backward compatibility for PS1-PS4. IE: Not a monetized virtual console (looking at you, Nintendo) I wonder how long it'll take them to crack PS5 this time around. That built in backward compatibility would make it one hell of an all in one + home brew box.

It is pretty smart business move actually. Horizon Zero Dawn won't ever be selling more than $20 and is often selling for lot less than that. Why not make a PC version and sell it for $60 and reap the profits again.
I don't see Sony doing anything like simultaneous releases for their future PS4/PS5 exclusives, but they may again release PC versions 2-3 years later.

for serious. timed exclusivity is likely what we'll see. Kinda like the RDR2 to PC gap. 1-2 years before the exclusive's port is available on PC.

too bad they don't have the ability to use Microsoft's "powershell porter"
