[GOG] Now offer a 30 day refund even if you downloaded and played

https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/art...37?product=gog

Quote:
The updated policy lets you refund a product up to 30 days after purchase, even if it was downloaded, launched, and played. Yes, you read that correctly.

Pretty sweet. Way better than the puny 2 hours from Steam.

I was not aware steam offered any sort of refund. News to me haha.

As time goes on I'm liking GOG more and more. It always seemed to me like it was run by enthusiasts that knew what we wanted out of a game distribution platform.

Sure is, there are games on GOG that don't work on Win7+ despite being advertised so. Makes it easier to refund.

They are gonna get swamped with individual cases though. I couldn't find anything such as less than 24h of ingame time played etc. Sooo, all I see are the lines of people playing games and then asking for refunds within 30 days as it's rather easy with games today to finish them in such a time as many only last a weekend or a week at most, some are literally hours only, or speedrun it in 30 min XD

It's nice to see more competition on the market even if it's just the behemoths trying to duke it out.

Too generous on duration of days there. Could bite them later. Steam has a measly 2hour limit, and early access/beta hours ARE counted.

I guess that low hour count also contributes to the "no questions asked" policy regarding refunds. I think I've purchased 20 games and refunded 14 of them because there were utter garbage. Every single time I've gotten a refund.

I expect GOG to change that policy before this year is over. Lot of people are going to abuse that policy.

I would have been happy with 48 hours to be honest. That's plenty of time to download and try out the game, even if you have a slow connection.

I'm surprised that GOG even has a refund policy. Their games are DRM free, you can refund the game and still keep it.

Well sometimes their games just dont work (which is rare) or it's really not what you expected. Usually it was pretty hard to get a refund from GOG regardless, I've tried several times, so this is indeed good news. 30 days seems rather high though.

In my home state too many people abused video game returns and state law is now that once it's been opened it's yours. Absolutely no returns under any circumstances, even if the game won't read right out of the box. You might be able to swing an exchange from some retailers though.

The actions of a few bad apples affect the whole lot. Hopefully GOG's new policy doesn't come back around on them.
