Yeah just like PhysX was supposed to be revolutionary...yawn.

Considering the primary market for gaming is consoles why would any developer bother w/implementing either DLSS or RTX? Wouldn't they want to focus on AMD tech? Unless Nvidia gives them some sort of kickbacks or incentives to implement DLSS or RTX?

The primary market for gaming is not consoles.

The primary market is mobile.

Outside of that I would say that the division between PCs and consoles is going to virtually disappear as this generation progresses.

The video from Hardware Unboxed.

The savage part starts at 25:30 and in the article it is the closing thoughts.

So don't drink the Kool-Aid without reading/watching those parts.

At the gym because AI training didn't work at all.

I hate how the game looks. Even without DXR and DLSS. I play at 4K (55") at a close distance which really emphasizes all the rendering tricks and different filters. DLSS vs Native in this game was hard to spot because the base game looked bad, to begin with.

No developer would bother spending time, money/ resources on implementing those features without an appropriate paycheck.

Control seemed more like a showreel for nvidia, imo.

There you go again just quoting parts of the article.

Nvidia also told us that older titles supporting DLSS will require game-side updates to get 2.0 level benefits due to the new SDK and that’s in the hands of developers, but we doubt those will get support. Battlefield V and Metro Exodus appear to have the same DLSS implementations as when we first tested these titles, flaws and all.

Hence the gym joke as AI training didn't work.

Training did improve the quality of DLSS. Older titles would need to implement the updated version. Just like the article stated.

Just finished watching the video. Coming from one of the most (legitimately) critical reviewers of DLSS when its first iteration was made available in games, to hear this kind of praise makes me excited to try the tech again in one of the new releases. It's sad that this is what DLSS should have been from the start (but wasn't), but it's also fortunate that a general, non-game-specific AI algorithm can do so well in its infancy. It can only mean great things for the future (hopefully for consoles too, with AMD's upcoming counterpart).

A little selfishly, I also feel like I was right all along when I first defended DLSS here (but later had to recant).
