In a Reddit AMA, 4A Games revealed that it may implement the latest and improved version of DLSS in Metro Exodus in the future. However, and before you start celebrating, there aren’t currently any plans for such a thing.

As a 4A Games developer said when asked about it:

“We may implement it in the future, but for now, no. There are some systems that we would have to rework in order to support the new priorities of the updated DLSS.”

It's not really consoles so much as the snowballing effect. For a while every AAA title would get xfire/sli. Then a few big name titles came out that didn't support SLI. The types of titles people would get SLI just to play that game with it. Then even less people with multiple GPU's and more devs not seeing a point in it, and before long it snowballed into oblivion.

this is what i've pieced together after all this time.

don't blame "lazy devs", don't blame DX11.

NV would've built it into GameWorks if they gave a damn about the technology & didn't see it as inherently flawed. They would financially encourage it to be included along with all their other features, if they wanted it to be a thing.

now - there's the whole no one's really taken the time to get it done in DX12 yet, so you only have vulkan doing it.

future - i hope it comes back, how else will we drive true 4K VR headsets anytime soon otherwise?

If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.
Best R0ach Quote of all time : TLDR: Haswell might be the last legit gaming platform unless mice get their own non-USB interface on some newer architecture.

Yeah AI will beat us all in gaming eventually. There goes another "job" to the robots.

so we could eventually be facing the same problem solving AI as the competition in PVE games? I mean, it would be nice to see some attempt at smart NPC AI outside of RTS/top down/iso. The modern norm of "make everything do more damage, while taking less" does not truly quantify as "hard mode" or "better/smarter AI"

i've seen the studies where the game AI Eventually figures out exploits to resolve losing. that should be fun

In one of the Turn 10 monthly Forza update videos they mentioned next-gen Drivatars using AI to actually drive the simulator close to theoretical limits and finally beat their best game testers.
For racing this should be nothing but good news, I look forward using perfect AI opponents just to teach me the best lines.
