Oh, I was mainly referring to modding the assets in the game, not standalone overhauls and whatnot. After warhead iirc, you couldn't edit the maps because they removed the .cry files. Subsequent versions weren't as modder-friendly either because each iteration got more and more locked down. The og crysis game was the best version in that regard because they allowed you to modify all of the assets in the game with the included editor.

^^ what it used to mean to be a genuine PC game, & not just a port/PC available console title.

The game already looks very good as is right? I guess textures in just about any game can use a memaster. And the employees on the project can tell people they worked on Crysis.

They kind of already ported the game to cryengine 3 for the console ports. The game could use an updated lighting system since the original used forward rendering so didn't have many dynamic lights. A move to deferred shading with ray-tracing and higher res textures/geometry would be about all they need on the graphics front. If you look at the poly count of most of the models in Crysis it looks pathetic by today's standards.

100% disagree. Crysis 1 is a great game, especially for it's time. Even now there are not many shooters that pull off first person super powers very well, but Crysis nailed it.

that was the only good thing about the tech demo known as crysis 3.

playing shirts Vs. skins was a hilariously good time.

I think it was quite a good sandboxy shooter. Lots of fun to be had with the physics and openness of it.
