Interesting. I know a few members mentioning having 32gigs made some games more stable. M$ flat out telling you need this much for the best experience. I guess I'm upgrading. I'm not too keen on the details, just seeing the insane eye candy, so soley online multiplayer? *Sees the word 'alpha' in the article: won't be released for awhile.

Unless I missed it in the posted specs, no mention of resolution was made - and as we a all know, that will change requirements very quickly.

And a few others I don't recall. If I recall correctly. However, not sure what's going on now a days though.
The specs would be a lot higher... Xbox Series X has a 2080 Super equiv GPU.

Sims were big in the late 80s / early 90s and I think simulations in general are coming back and in a big way. VR alone is really stirring interest for flight and driving sims. DCS with VR is out of this world! These ARE PC GAMES. I've been saying it for years. All those cross platform ports are not and have never been PC Games. Civilization is a PC game. Total War is a PC Game. DCS is a PC Game. Assassins Creed is not.

All I'm saying is that now that the next gen consoles are basically PCs and we're starting to see PC games start to hit consoles with Civilization and Flight Simulator, expect to see growing interest in the deeper, can't just sit down a play, need to learn and study, type games. For me, it's a much more rewarding and enjoyable type of "gaming." Landing an F-14 on a carrier in DCS, with VR is just a fantastic experience.
We can hope, but it's only two years after a console launch that they're last gen, and two after that everyone is sick to death of the stagnated PC gaming market again.

If I get VR it'll be to fly and drive, Steam themselves though just announced their less than a year old set as last gen. I think it's still immature and developing too quickly. And I can't spend money quite as frivolously and wastefully as I used to years ago - It's very upsetting

I can't bring myself to use the Microsoft Store, so there is no way I'm playing FS2020.

That said, the requirements don't seem outlandish given the scope of the game and what prior incarnations required.

FS2020 is pretty revolutionary. My guess is that, if accessing the store is the one thing preventing you from playing it, you're not really all that interested to begin with.

But if you actually want to really get the game and will not do so solely because of the store, then there'e must be some truly irreconcilably evil aspect to it that I'm not aware of and am very curious to know about.

I game a fair bit and I've been fond of flight sims for thirty-odd years. If MS flight simulator 2020 was DRM free, or at least available through a distribution channel I found less offensive, I'd probably be building a five-thousand dollar sim pit for it right now.

However, I will not use Steam, Origin, Uplay, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, or the like. Indeed, at this point, if it's not an online-only game, I won't use it if requires an internet connection. I won't make a Microsoft Account either. Even if I was willing to, I'm not going to replace Windows Server with Windows 10 on the system I'd likely be playing.

Ultimately I can do without FS2020 much more readily than I can do without my principles. I drew a line in the sand well over a decade ago, and I'm not going to cross it for a game.

There's always the possibility this is an MS store initial release and could come out on other distribution means in a year. It may be a tad bit different than the norm these days, but in theory it could be released on a bunch of DVD discs for an old school style install. That could drive sales later on down the line that MS misses from the initial release.
