I gave up on Battlefield long ago because they kept releasing "new" versions without fixing the current one at the time. I couldn't see spending all that money on basically a re-release of the same game with the same problems as the last with a different number on it. Sad really, because I completely enjoyed the earlier BF games. The full battlefield play with vehicles, planes, soldiers, everything was really a fun experience but I just couldn't do it anymore.

Another example of EA ruining a great franchise with rushed releases and over pricing.

Battlefield has been on a downward slope for a LONG time. It didn't just start with Battlefield 1 or Battlefield 5. I have the most hours in Battlefield Bad Company 2, followed by Battlefield 3. Battlefield 4 was basically like Battlefield 3 version 2 for me so I played it, but not as much as I played Battlefield 3. Battlefield 1 was an interesting concept so I had some fun with it, but not nearly as many hours as BF3 / BF4. I think DICE really just needs to go back to earlier titles like Battlefield 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 and understand what made those games great. As a faithful DICE fan for many many years I feel that they are focusing far too much on the "wow-factor" for their games and not NEARLY enough on the actual gameplay itself. It makes me sad.

there's no one left to figure that out though. What made the good games good.

its kinda of like university sports legacy. get good, win, then have new guys come in on your coattails that just just wanna ride your glory & profits, until the team eventually just sucks again

(See Florida State University for an awesome example of this cycle)

Couldn't agree more.

For me, Bad Company 2 Vietnam DLC was THE best Battlefield, period. BF3 was fantastic - a wholly new experience (modern weapons/vehicles etc.) and BF4 was a continuation of that. I hated BF1 but now hate BFV even more. In fact, BF1 isn't half bad compared to BFV. The guns in BFV "feel" like bb guns for the most part - they lack the 'oomph' factor IMO.

BF6 or Bad Company 3, whichever one they make next needs to be a modern setting (preferably iraq/afghanistan/syria) .

I never understood why they made BFV to begin with. It plays like a badly edited reskin of BF1, which to be fair was tremendous.

BFV was a utter crap show from start to finish.

Company attacking their fans.

Fans being called sexist and misogynistic by the press and EA for pointing out how absurd the game looked.

That franchise, developers and publisher needs to burn like 99% of the gaming industry today. But the "executives" and people actually making the bad decisions are never really punished are they?

Unfortunately Dice/EA position for BF is about the same as some casual player opinion about a tower defense game on the phone. What EA wanted was the frostbyte engine (for other games). Once they got that up and running BF was an after thought.

BFV was the most horrific game that came out of EA and EA has asked nay-sayers to hold their beer about other bad games for a long time now.

BFV was, is and shall be the worst game that came from Dice/EA ever in gaming history. They took a proven formula and throw it out the window for what "they wanted".

The community didn't ask for most of the over reaching changes that makes BF3 vs BFV two separate FPS games.

As for BF1, for me, was the best and only WW1 game I've ever played. Sure, a WW1 game wasn't everyone's cup of tea. But it was on the same footing as BF2 for me. Nothing comes close to BF2 then BF1 and at a distant second BF3.

The only real way Dice can redeem themselves is to find a way to allow more then 64 players and get back to their roots with BF2 like gaming experience.

Having played bf 1942 back in the day, I cannot express how much I was looking forward to trying to sink carriers again only to find out that planes spawn in mid air and there were no carriers at all. I couldn't care less about the social justice aspect. They can make all the avatars be lesbian vegan hipsters for all I care so long as the gameplay made any effort to emulate the amazing feel of the first game.
