I beat the it the first time by grabbing a save-file online to get me passed the race. I could not win that with the keyboard controls. Could not do it. Then a few years later I got a Logitech G25 and reinstalled Mafia just to see if it worked. All driving, including the race became an absolute breeze. Could not believe it when 2K cut wheel support for Mafia 2.

I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid... and I went ahead anyway.

If it's not coming out for the PC, it's dead to me.

That mission was probably the most difficult in the game, trying to get the car back to the track without damaging it was a nightmare, but the race was pretty rock too. I used to do racing games on keyboard so was used to the controls, but still was hard. Best to just keep out of the way of other drivers, let them crash into each other, maybe with the odd nudge for good measure.
