There is no qualifying for pole position. No pitting, they are not accessible in the race (watch video).
I'll pass on this. I prefer that in Horizon, Grid and Forza.

I tried to like pcars 2, but the physics felt so off. Starting with nfs shift the physics felt off, and the tyres mod they had back in the day did help, but it still didn't feel like the rear end was communicated very well. That carried on through all of their games. Just don't feel the connection through the wheel like more proper sims. tbh, gran turismo's physics felt better.

That's because they were using physx for phyics. Not sure if translated over to PC2 though. But yeah, I know exactly what you are talking about. You can have one race that actually felt fine. Next race have you tweaking settings trying to figure out why you can't hold the line when cornering.

One of the biggest tells was when it rained. LOL, I've seen so many threads about the issues racing in the rain turning into an ice rank.

Is the AI fixed? It was so bad in PC2. Some tracks or cars the AI were crazy fast, keep same settings, go to another track, and they're stupid slow.

Besides that the game is really fun in VR with a CSW2.5 wheel and custom FFB file.

Edit: oh forgot about the crazy issues at the start of some races they never fixed. Do a driving start and sometimes AI will crash or ram you before the race even starts resulting in a penalty.

Well I'm not going to pretend like I can tell what the physics will be like from that video, does "reveal video" mean that it is gameplay footage?

I don't really consider pcars or asseto corsa to be hardcore (or "purist") sims. I look to these games to offer me a bit of fun and a chance to play around in some high end street cars instead of just race cars. I should be able to wag my tail if I want to take the scenic route around the track, but it shouldn't be a "mechanic" like it is in the arcade games (looking at you The Crew).

As long as they meet that (low) bar I will probably bite.

They released a 12 minute gameplay video along with the reveal video. You can tell is an arcade game now, basically NFS Shift 3 without the NFS name. The cars don't respond badly to stabby inputs and at one point the GTE car does a drift.

I just went and watched some gameplay footage. I think I can see what you are talking about but it's so hard to tell because I am only seeing what it looks like without being able to feel what it feels like. I really don't think I need another race track only sim that drives so/so. I would really like to see a good driving version of a game like The Crew where you can cruise around city streets in an open world. It's awesome to gumball it with your friends from coast to coast in that game, but you can only have fun with it while using a controller.

What would it be called now if they did not change the name? NFS 20? XD Same rubbish arcade all over again. Plenty of those on market with consolers as main customer.

I did not expect this from Slightly Mad Studios.
I have their previous games and they were different than your average car game.

FLOOR STANDING SYSTEM: FOCAL ARIA 948 WITH NAD C388 & NAD C568 & REGA PLANAR 3 / HOME CINEMA : YAMAHA AVENTAGE RX-A860
DESKTOP AUDIO: DENON AHD-2000/5000 -MARK LAWTON & DENON AHD-9200 WITH PIZZA STACK / TOPPING A50 HiFi BALANCED HEADPHONE AMP & D50S HI-RES DAC & P50 REGULATED LINEAR PSU

Apparently Turn10 is making good progress with racing AI. In one of the livestreams it was mentioned that next gen AI in Forza is competitive with the best hotlappers (actually finding the theoretical fastest lines).
