i missed the "no future plans" part... that's... interesting. bet they've still got some secondary content lined up to crank out, if the #s are there.

I am going to be an optimist because it makes the wait to see if the game pans out more fun, and because I have been waiting for a game like this. I currently play MechWarrior Online quite a bit so multiplayer competitive team-based sci-fi vehicle combat is my jam.

I know almost nothing about VR, though people nowadays are hailing it as both the present and future of immersive gaming. But I also want to use the most viable/competitive controller-m&k, Hotas, or PlayStation controller... I have also been waiting for Squadrons 42 to do a brand new PC build, this could make me move up my schedule if the reviews are good. Or keep waiting for SQ42 and get a PS4/PS5, though I haven't gamed on consoles in years... Decisions, decisions.

unfortunately, most competitive controller and "best possible controller" are two very different things.

this is why the controller vs. joystick debates rage on to this day in elite dangerous and star citizen.

using a stick is more immersive, but its gonna take you ages of dialing, scripting, and learning to get it dialed in anywhere near as accurately as just using a controller + keyboard.

LOL... I personally use the throttle on my warthog way more than I ever use the stick, and 100% the best way to fly in space would be dual stick. no need for a dedicated thruster, it's just a handicap unless it has a thumb stick on it.

Ahh, good to know. Was not aware Hotas was so finicky. I was only going to consider Hotas if I decide on VR, so looks like I will go controller if I go VR, or stick with a screen and m&k.

its just a much higher learning curve, and you typically find yourself needing/wanting to customize the layout, which typically ends up in script building and special controller emulators, n yeah. it's a whole production sometimes.
