Cool, happy to continue my trend of not buying full-priced games (with very few exceptions) as I am sure the increase in price will still come with micro transactions, cut down content for DLC packs, and all the current shady and deplorable practices going on now.

They can do whatever they want. We'll see how the market reacts. Of course, same market continues to pre-order games and buy into the bad practices now, so I'm not going to hold my breath.

One game has done it and that it. One game that has no competition of any kind and is the ONLY NBA game you can play. So this is meaningless until other games start to copy.

They can do this with NBA2K, or Madden or Fifa since they don't have any competition and they know people will still buy the game on release.

The thing is a lot of AAA games could have been great as shorter games that would have sold for 30 dollars, but they keep padding them and diluting the experience to increase the playtime (and encourage the purchasing of "time savers") because selling a 20 or 30 dollar game is a taboo for some unknown reason.

It's the irony in all of this. We used to wish we had more awesome games to play, and now we have so many, we can't even immerse ourselves in a single one.
I think we're just at the end of a gaming generation. I remember feeling bored with gaming towards the end of other console cycles. Devs are not releasing any AAA titles now unless it's for a cookie cutter type of game that's exactly like it's predecessors. Cyberpunk would have been a great stand out game among all this last gen boredom. I have ended up playing a few games recently that I probably never would have tried if other games were not feeling stale.

Playing through all 3 tomb raider reboots made this really obvious recently as it gradually went from a reasonable amount of little distractions off to the side of the room in the first game to being given 34 survival caches, 28 relics and 42 documents to collect in one single area in shadow. This just isn't real content. I love finding little notes and documents in games and getting random bits of lore, but how can that be worthwhile if its so distracting to the story and takes you away from real gameplay for so long that it becomes jarring and boring to the point the lore is no longer interesting because you're sick of the game and its story. Idk maybe i'm just getting old and grumpy, or maybe I just don't like wasting my whole day on video games anymore.

I'm just going to go play Bioshock because at least that's still good.
I liked all 3 new TR's. You 2 are also getting me looking forward to playing the on sale Plague Tale I picked up last week. Soon as I finally finish Witcher1, which I've found to get better the more Witcher lore I come across.
Also the 3rd Bioshock had one of the worst endings I've ever seen. I was literally YELLING at the screen as it played out in front of me. The only ending I can decisively say was worse was from the Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Not sure I agree.

I just replayed all three Bioshocks over the past 2 months.

Bioshock 1 is still a masterpiece.

Bioshock 2 was mostly ok, a continuation of 1 gameplay wise with some minor differences (personally I liked the hacking minigame in 1), and they dumbed down the management of the tonics, but the story didn't really get interesting until the end act.

Personally I loved the concept and story of Bioshock Infinite (I am a sucker for multi-verse and alternate history sci-fi), but was ultimately disappointed that the gameplay was way dumbed down from 1 and 2, and perceived choices never really amount to anything as the story linearly progresses to its inevitable end. Though when you factor in the rest of the game, I think that was the whole point. There was only one way to "break the circle". Overall I enjoyed the story, but the gameplay needs work and I think more than anything in that game, it's the gameplay that was bad.

I loved 1's story, but didn't really enjoy the gameplay mechanics. It was too rough around the edges. Bioshock 2 fixed that, but the story wasn't as interesting. Infinite I hated. I thought it was pretentious and superficial most of the time. Burial at Sea saved it for me, though.

You saw the 3rd game leading up to the end. You would have seen the circle broken in the third person. Because you saw it from the first person can only mean that it was your gameplay character and the circle was not broken. That crazy b. And there was nothing I could do but button mash and shout.

Edit: to add vagueness.

Will agree it wasn't polished, but had more complexity than 2 did, at least with tonic management. I liked that.

Yeah I guess I can see how some of it might come off pretentious. Never played Burial at Sea, but getting ready to.

I am not following your train of thought really. The ending made sense. Now whether you liked it or not I guess is another matter...
