Here's a hint: do you really think noctua engineers belive by adding 1 heatpipe more, the cooler will perform much better with a 10900k?
You tell me if that's the only thing they adding. If you looking at cooler itself..yahh you can assume that, but there is a bit more then that

You losing the point I'm trying to make. Today's desktop CPUs have limited, and could even be called bad heat transfer. It doesn't matter what mambo jambo noctua does. It won't improve the current desktop situation, even if they make the new d16 better and keep the same tr4 chip at 10-15°C lower than a d15 would.

Its my bad, I should have read from the first post. I agree, new CPUs have issues and there is more post and videos on that subject I have simply jump the gun

We will see. From what I recollect, the cooling capacity is not that much more than the d15 so I have a feeling it will struggle with an OCed i9 10900k. But should be in good shape on Intel when they finally have enough capacity to shrink the die of their desktop performance CPU.

D15 is a 260w cooler. Maybe a few more with aftermarket fans. They need to be more like Thermalright 😛

The NH-D15 will be unable to keep a 9900k under 100C at 250W. At 230W it reaches about 90C.

Would never purchase any 9900k even if it sold for $199.00USD each, simply because it's too much power wastage/inefficient compared to any current AMD equivalent CPU.

Just would never contemplate buying any Intel CPU Product because they are now the KINGS in Room Heating so unless you are living in Alaska, Sweden, Finland or Norway during the Winter Months, far logical to get a simple 3800X or a 3900X and enjoy the cooler performance.

Performance doesn't come for free, and this is overclock.net not powersaver.net.
