RAM cooler

Hi guys,
Since I moved to a 2x16GB I noticed the mems run toasty all the time, about 42-44*C in memtest at stock 3200 CL14 speeds. I suspect that they don't get enough airflow so I decided to grab a ram-cooler.
What would you advise? Corsair Dominator Airflow Platinum maybe? I don't want to go ghetto route with zipties.

I've seen that one too but I think about swapping the fans to Noctua so it's hard to justify the price atm. I know Corsair has a cheap single-fan Vengeance cooler but I wonder if it actually does anything with a single fan besides creating noise?

Any experiences with the stock fans on that Airflow module are very welcome

42-44 °C doesn't seem toasty to me, humans run at around 36.5 °C.

B-Die is very sensitive to this...I just tried TestMem and it was getting up to 46*C and started throwing errors. I've now put a plain 140mm fan straight at the DIMM's and they dropped to 37.5/39*C and 0 errors, full pass.

Looks like confirmation bias, just increase the voltage and re-test without cooling.

I tried different B-Die's on Z390, also above 4400MHz and they all started throwing random errors above ~42-44*C though. 2 FlareX kits and 2 TridentZ's.

Below are the exact same setups done in consecutive runs. Second one with errors has no airflow against the memory, first error came at 42.5*C. As you can see, B-Die is extremely temperature sensitive, be it on AMD or Intel.

Does it matter ?

You'll have a hard time keeping them at those temperatures when the whole system is under load in a closed case, be it with a cooler or not since the air temperature in the case will eventually increase when every component is under load, nevermind that you're also testing these at their limits.

Tune for higher temperatures imo if you're aiming for a 24/7 overclock.

Yep, with a fan against them you can easily keep them below 40*C in a closed case, no problems.
