I have a Cooler Master 212 RGB Black. When I plug it into the cpu fan header the fan doesn’t spin. When I plug it into cha fan 1 or any other fan header it works fine. Any idea why it doesn’t do anything when plugged into the cpu header? The cpu header works fine as well, the wraith fan worked and case fans also work on it. Asus b450 f gaming board.

There are 2 CPU fan headers on your board; CPU_FAN & CPU_OPT. Do both not work? Are you sure you are using CPU_FAN and not CPU_OPT fan header?

To clearify, wshen system is running and ypu plug CPU fan into CPU_FAN header it will not run, but will run when plugged into other fan headers, and case fans run when plugged into CPU_FAN header. Is that correct?

No idea what problem might be. Is fan RGB cable plugged in?

I’ll have to double check OPT but I believe I tried it. Yes it’s definitely plugged into the cpu fan header not OPT and correct the case fans run if plugged into the cpu header. All the RGB lights work properly on all fans and cpu fan. Right now my cpu fan is running off a case fan header. The pc runs fine but for monitoring purposes I would like it in the correct spot.

I had a red cooler master fan once.. had the clear black frame.. it was less than a year old when it just stopped working. I have other coolermaster fans that are closer to 15 years old that still work fine. I have a diaper box full of them from 2004-2012. You got one that was made by the new guy that day just like I did lol. I have one that came with my 212 evo from 2012 and that thing still rips. I like that one.

I returned it and bought a Ryzen 7 3700x and the prism cooler has the same problem it runs on a chassis header but not the cpu header.

Solved! Just needed a bios update. Now my cpu fans register in the proper header.
