I have a real case, in fact I have several. Sadly actual computer parts with motherboards, CPU, VGAs and the like currently occupy that area at the moment. So much so that I couldn't fit any real mass storage in any of them, which is why I bought myself a sweet raid station to handle all that stuff (hint, hint... thats the one in the pictures)

What kind of temps are your HDDs running?
One good 120mm fan should move plenty of air in front grill through case and out rear to cool the HDD in it.

Sadly it doesn't show up in crystaldisk, I can try hooking it up with ESATA though. I'm assuming it's still the 30-40*c range that is best for harddrives?

I'd much rather build myself a real server in a 4u rack before that happends, in fact I would find it far more fun and practical to do a scratch build than trying to migrate this thing in to a case that actually fits 8 drive bays. So no that simply is not going to happen.

I don't, this thread was always based on share curiosity form the very start. A lot of cases only come shiped with a rear fan mounted in them and I'm sure quite a few have posed themselves the sme question, which kind of fan is best to use as a rear exhaust fan? Will a static pressure fan make any sense in that position? or is an air flow focused fan like the S12 more suited. There are lot's of factors, but ultimatly I jsut wanted a discussion on the matter as I was honestly really curious what people thought.

Hi,
Bottom line that case is too old and not designed well at all
Easy fix is drill two 120mm holes in the back
Add two fans any will due with two screen grills on the back.

I'm assuming you mean the top of the case? Still though I'm not entirelly sure tehere is any space for that. As for the design of the case... it's fine for what it is. All it's supposed to do is hold 8 drives and keep them adequately cool during heavy use.

Sharkoon 8-bay is same being only 340 x 150 x 340 mm with front one big grill. As I've said before, a single high pressure rated fan should move plenty of airflow over your HDDs.
