need a -quiet- cpu fan/heatsink for a non oc/gaming pc (3770)

Hey guys, the cpu cooler on my brothers pc isnt working well (loud, idles at 75C) so he needs a new one.

We're looking for quiet above all, as he doesnt game or OC. WE don't wanna spend a tonne of money either.

What are the best options these days?

Thanks!!

A stock 3770k is really easily cooled. If you value quiet, would something like a Pure Rock be in your price range - https://www.newegg.com/be-quiet-bk009/p/13C-001F-00005 ?

Yeah....the little girl hentai avatar is really creeping me out....

i noticed the Pure Rock slim is even cheaper, would that be just as good?

What about Coolmaster? (I know Noctura is the best/quiestest but too much money)

The Slim is ok, but will tend to be a little noisier.

Cooler Master and quiet are essentially polar opposites. Nasty sounding fans, and towers that need higher fan speeds to function efficiently.

if you are looking for a more affordable fan you could look at the arctic p12 or p14 fans.

they push a good amount of air at a relatively low noise level

There are quite a few under $50. What case is it going in? Don't want make recommendations that won't fit.

What is with people interjecting these fans into threads that aren't asking for fans? Or asking for fans on an altogether different plane? That is some damned strong Kool Aid going on with these.....or is Arctic paying for posts? Hmmmmm.......

I use a Dark Rock Slim on my 3900x and it handles it just fine at stock speeds. It's a really good cooler and will last you a long time.
