Help choosing a cooler

I was talked out of doing any sort of water cooling in my last thread. I'm going to upgrade my air cooler to a top tier air cooler. My first choice of cooler seems to be out of stock everywhere (NH-D15) So i need some help picking a cooler with similar performance. This is for the PC in my sig. Thanks!

Is this your sig rig? Where on Earth are you? Can you give us a few sites to look at what is available there so we can suggest coolers you can get?

For an R5 3600, you can use pretty much any decent air cooler. It doesn't produce much heat. If you already have the NH-U12S, there's no need to change coolers. If you want better performance, you can grab one or two NF-A12x25 fans to replace the what you have on there currently.

MSi B450 Tomahawk Max has about 50mm center CPU to near side of RAM socket and 90 center CPU to near side of PCIe x16.
I think your RAM is only about 30mm tall so should be fine there

Meshify C has 170mm CPU clearance so even the tallest coolers should fit, and if RAM is 30mm tall (33mm surface of motherboard to top of RAM) 140mm fan will fit over RAM.

2x rated 140mm or 3x 120mm in front and 1x 120mm high pressure rated intake fans with all openings not covered by them blocked off so air they push into case has to move through case to get out not leak out by fans and go in circles and a good CPU cooler.

Looks like NH-D15S is available on Amazon. I'm off to work so will check back later.

I understand I don't need to, but I'm going to push my overclocks, and could use a little more headroom.

It's within a degree as good as D15 with 2 fans but is offset for better PCIe clearance. There are other coolers as good and lower cost, but I can't find any in your market area at this time.

The D15S is a great choice if you were looking for a D15. I have both and prefer the 15S since it gives a little more room for the GPU. With the same fans the D15 and D15S will produce identical performance. Even with only one fan on the D15S, there is a minimal difference (~2-3C) in performance. Amazon also has the Thermalright LGMRT (https://www.amazon.com/Grand-Macho-R...dp/B01BCLXO7Q/) in stock, and it is comparable with the D15/D15S.

That said, NewEgg has the PH-TC14PE in stock (bit of a price gouge, though), as well as the Dark Rock Pro 4, Raijintek TISIS, and a few others worth considering.

Yeah....the little girl hentai avatar is really creeping me out....

I missed it.
Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT is actually 3-4c better cooler than NH-D15S, some tests show is a degree better and a couple dB quieter than than NH-D15, but that is too close to call a significant 'better'. But if we take into account Le Grand Macho RT TY-147B rated 73.6cfm fan is 200rpm slower and 9.1cfm less airflow than D15 with 2x A15 fans rated 82.5cfm, 3-4dB quieter and still cools as well or slightly better to me makes it the better cooler.

I just purchased the Thermalright LGMRT and am very impressed with its performance. Doing a great job keeping a 3950x in check.

It is currently available at Amazon.
