Yes, I know, what a complex question for a first time post. goes.

AMD 7750 BE
Tt Armor + MX tower
Asus M3A79-T Mobo

By my measurements it looks like a cooler no taller than 150mm (give or take a mm or so) will fit this case before hitting the 230mm side fan, so the normal recommendations (HDT1283, TRUE, Sunbeam CC) are out. I am also hoping to spend no more that $50. I had originally decided on the Tt Max Orb, but have read so many conflicting reviews, and I don't think it would stand up to much overclocking. So my first question is to ask if anyone has good suggestions?

Second Question, with the huge side fan blowing into the case, would a top down cooler be more capable of taking advantage of this, or would a tower style (that will fit) still be the way to go?

I greatly appreciate any help.

Cutting your CPU cooler options because of a side fan won't do. The whole point of a good CPU cooler is lower temps, something a side fan is never going to make up for. TT Max orb is a POS tbh. Either remove the side fan and get a great CPU cooler or find a way to mod it and mount it from the outside along with a fan guard (very simple to do with my armor but doesn't look like as easy with the armor+).

First off, welcome to OCN! Basically I see you have two viable options that would most likely need testing to prove which is better for your situation. One, you could remove the side fan and use something like a with a bolt-thru kit. If your airflow is good without that sidefan, this will most likely be the better option. Two, you could keep that sidefan as an intake and get something like That way, your cpu will be drawing the air from the sidefan and should give you great temps. Both of these coolers are cheap and a good bang for your buck, although I would REALLY suggest that bolt-thru kit on the ziggy. Trust me.

Thanks for the responses and the welcome.

After doing a little remeasuring, here is what I have come up with so far:

Heatsinks that I know will fit:

Zerotherm Nirvana 120
Asus Triton 78
Arctic Cooling Freezer Extreme
Xigmatec Cobra D984
Scythe Zipang
Coolermaster Gemini II
Coolermaster Hyper N520
Thermalright Ultima 90

One's that I believe will fit, but can't be 100% certain without trying them.

Tuniq Tower 120
Scythe Ninja 2
Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer

The Asus is out of my price range, but is included for as complete a list as I have found.
