Hey all. So I have an interesting situation. I haven't been in the pc building business since sata first came out. I've come to the alter of experts for guidance, ha. My SVP, MY boss, has a kid who is terminally ill. He bought him a new Alienware Aurora R6. That's what his kid wanted, apparently amongst the circle of friends this, in their minds is the best. My boss plans on making this a big surprise. Now I don't know if things have changed since back in the day, but pre-builts were heavily mocked back then. That being said, I have what I have. I've been given a blank check to replace the graphics card, the ram, hdds, coolers, etc if necessary. Or add other cool things. I'm sure everyone's first advice would be not to buy an Alienware computer or to rip everything out and start from scratch. That course of action is not possible. I've done a lot of research before posting, I know people hate it when coming to forums without doing any work on their own. Not only is it a best performance thing, there is a "cool" factor for the kid I'm trying to achieve. Meaning, their belief is, it's cool by having the best of the best, even if it's a huge cost difference between the two (like the 1080 ti and Xp). That being said, a few options per category of components would be helpful. If you could also annotate whether your recommendations are "performance" based, "cool" based or "both."

I've included a lot of structure in this post only to make it as easy as possible for anyone who'd want to contribute. Feel free to respond how you'd like.

Given the below specs, what components should I get upgraded or add? I essentially have a blank check. I haven't been able to figure out what motherboard is used. But it's Z270. The other no-name components are difficult to figure out as well (i.e. the SSD and RAM)

I was thinking about overclocking things for him, but have no idea how.

I really appreciate any help you could provide. This is a really good kid, which is why I'm going to great lengths to make this awesome. Such a quiet kid that's always smiling, even through all this terrible stuff. We're going to have everything setup and ready after coming home from the hospital. This probably beyond the scope of this thread, but could anyone help?

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
