lol, we already looked into it. Gold actually has a lower thermal conductivity than pure copper. Silver is slightly better but would be very difficult to machine, uber expensive and a bit silly tongue.gif We are looking at silver plating tho just because it doesn't get as grubby as copper and wouldn't effect heat transfer massively.

Ummmm seriously, why are we even fooling with these mere metals...All we need is a 3 or 4000 carat diamond and drill a hole right down the middle -

Thermal Conductivity = 2000

Would probably be better off using industrial diamond but it just doesn't have the same bling.

Doesn't silver tarnish in the presence of oxygen? Or would you use an alloy that doesn't?

Silver tarnishes in the presence of sulphur, it is very resistant to oxygen. It tarnishes in the air because of sulphur pollution caused by burning fossil fuels, mostly coal. Before the industrial revolution silver did not tarnish.
