@ patch.. yep everytime i try to go to 1500mhz i reboot automatically or black screen and i had it @ -175C the whole time.. i remounted like 6 times and i ran out of gc extreme lol. (at first it would reboot when i set +500mv.. somehow i get it to stick.. try changing core and bam.. shutdown/reboot) wth? ocp?
I went back right before my ln2 supplier closed and got another refill.. they were surprised to see me so soon lol.. i don't think i should of because that's where the bad luck happened. I took off my SS to mount my pot to do some ln2 action on cpu also.. so i take the pot into the bathroom to prep.. takes like 20 mintues.. and bam! next thing i know for some reason the computer turned back on without a hs whatsoever running 1.65v sozo.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gif
i turned it off and it turned back on by itself!!!
took out my 59X cpu and i have a few burned pins on my mive..
i move my 580.. put back hsf.. put it on my giga oc x58 and bam.. grey lines all over the place when it wants to boot. (half of the time it doesn't)
I am soo sad right now. sad-smiley-002.gif
the computer god hates me!

I had to read that twice lol. Reading stuff like this makes me 100% sure that I'm going to kill some hardware when I finally get DICE/LN2. Oh well, I'm doing it anyways.

just be very cautious.. in my case.. i 100% without a doubt turned off the mobo.. it turned back on by itself confused.gif next time i will turn off psu.. now i know.. i tried putting in a different chip on the mobo and i heard a sizzling sound as soon as i did.. (about 5 mintues ago).. now i am down two chips.. my best one and the one that had a very good imc.

i think i'm going to stop until new year arrives.. good luck to everyone and happy benching! (props to people that are able to bench a 580.. it looked easier that it actually was)

1500 is a bit lofty for turning the card and jpulling down. I would start around 1100 and work your way up in 50MHz increments until you start to get close to the max (it'll probably do around 1300-1350 without too much trouble).

this is exactly why most people start with     :banana: and cheap hardware.

you learn the ropes with stuff that you arent too concerned with killing.....After you have been though countless motherboards and GPU's you will REALLY realize why this is a good idea. Hell you probably already agree!

I like overclocking more than actually playing video games.

damn thats sad... hope some stuff survives..

if it were my 1st attempt on a 580 on ln2, i would of opted to do SS on cpu, ram on air and direct my attention to the card.
hope it works out bro.

Another reason why i dont fool with pins/switches for shutdown.. theres a plug in the wall for that.. and no mobo has had the balls to try and fire back up on me yet, with the PSU being unplugged. rolleyes.gif

*Its an Asus thing man.. they all do it with random reboot/crash.. shudown+auto reboot. Never had a Gigbut or DFI do that..just Asus.
