Good choice on pot for first timer,very easy to insulate compared too the venom and this will be a well suited pot for Haswell, CB wink.gif

It makes me sad that the cheapest I can find LN2 where I live is $4.5/L which I am not paying. It has extremely low manufacturing cost and I'm taking it to them. I found a 35L dewar for $300 shipped to me but have no use ans I'm not paying $120 to refill.

Airgas = $10/L
Local welding shop = $5.25\L
Praxair = $4.25\L

Airgas wants $10/L???? That's the worst price, by far, that I've ever heard...

 You have to push Airgas a bit harder.. go into to your local shop and speak with the rep or lead manager there. Once they understand you will be purchasing from them regularly and setup an account, you can get prices down to ~1 / liter. I have an account an place orders in Roseville and San Jose around that rate, with Airgas. Starting things off with a good 160L or 200L purchase helps 'grease the wheels' too wink.gif

Will see if I can talk them or Praxair down. If not i'm going to see if one of the teachers at my school can have my dewar filled when they get the schools filled.

Went ahead and got set up earlier and going to do a run tomorrow after class. Insulation wise is this fine?

LET
Armaflex - 2 layers
Shop towels around socket
1/2 foam
1/2 foam around the pot

Back
LET
1/2 foam
shop towels

I took off the heatsinks and did under them and around the socket with the LET. Didn't go past the first PCIe slot or RAM Dimm

Next is this too close to the first PCIe slot to use it?

I don't know how much difference x8 will make vs x16 in benchmarks. I booted just to make sure I had good contact and it was running cooler than my NH-D14.....

Insulation looks good. Depending on the bench, there may be a decent difference with x8 vs x16. Even though everything will be really close, I'd run in the x16 slot.

I also remember that you had posted asking which insulation from grainger. For future reference, they have 2 different brands and are a few $$ apaart. Buy the expensive one of the two, you'll be dissapointed if you buy the cheaper one as it's not what is represented in the picture. I just got through exchanging it for the more expensive product.

Here is the link for the one that is the correct item. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/KFLEX-USA-Insulation-Sheet-3F414

I received this stuff ..are they both the same never mind same model # 6RSX3X4048

Things went well for a first run which makes me happy. I stopped by praxair today and talked to the regional manager and he told me if I rented a 180L dewar from them it would be $200 filled and delivered each month. It seems reasonable to me so ill probably at least do that once then decide from there. He told me he could also do personal dewar for .80/L
