As the title says I want to start with extreme overclocking and I need some articles or guides to help me. I also need to know how use Temp probes and digital multimeters. Here is my current plan for my set up.

Intel pentium g3258
Gigabyte z97 SOC force

OR

Core i7 960
Rampage III extreme

OR

AMD athlon x4 860k
Asus Crossblade Ranger

8gb G skill tridentx memory

r7 250 (not planning to overclock it)

128gb SSD

Superflower Leadex platinum 1200w

Dimastech easy V3 bench

Scythe Slip Stream 1600rpm fans

Kingpin Dragon F1 Gemini 2.0

Kingpin flat sheet foam insulation

Kingpin Round tube foam insulation

Kingpin Extreme K type probe

HAMA em 393 digital multimeter

I also do not know where to get DICE or LN2 where I live in the Netherlands.

with regards to overclocking on ln2 you might want to buy a few cpu's and use the best one. there wouldn't be much point getting a cpu that isn't stable above 4.3ghz tongue.gif

I think you should look for some LGA775 setup . Buy a P45 mobo DDR2 or DDR3 memory with some dual core and quads : E8400 , Q6600 , some old pentiums are fun to . Don't spend money on a test bench now , is just a waste of money , better use the money to buy hardware . For an LN2 pot , because you are in Europe you might want to check with this guy to http://www.piotres.com/?go=4,ln2,,, , he has pretty good pots and prices are good to , or buy used .
That multimeter has temp control ? .
You might have some overclockers in area , check forum and hwbot to see

One of my rules is : Start low and see how it goes . In case you don't like it you wont lose to much money .

Would getting a 771 xeon x5450 and doing the socket mod to make it fit in a maximus formula be a good idea?

I suggest looking up El-Gappo. He is one of the admins and might know of someone local to us that has a spare Pot or someone that has one for sale.

I also believe there will be a overclocking session this December again.. so hook him up and see what he says

Get the G3258 and the Z97 SOC Force and begin with Dry Ice i think that will be the best to start
