The nice part about the third party file explorer programs is that they don't change, they have lot's of functionality that gets added on as well as neat things that the stock explorers can never touch while always sort of being the same throughout the years. From 95 > 98 > ME > XP > Vista > 8.1 > 10 I've been looking at the same file explorer, TC got it right the first time going all the way back to his stuff being distributed in the .alt discussion groups.

Meh. I'm sure some people get a lot out of Total Commander, but Microsoft File Explorer is truly all I need for how I use the computer.

Just tried it and i like it much better than the standard Windows 10 layout so thank you
I lose a lot of horizontal space by having the details on the right side so after having tried both i would rather have it in the bottom like with Windows 7

if it ain't broken don't fix it!
So Windows 10 is fine after you have downloaded 4 programs to fix all the annoying new crap

Edit: looks like this now which is just how i wanted it

Another good option is ClassicShell http://www.classicshell.net/ which gives you a plethora of options you can use to re-enable features that you were used to in previous versions.

I haven't used windows 7 in a long time until recently. I'm setting up an old laptop to give to a friend and it's one of the few computers that works with windows 7 but not 10, so I have to keep it on 7. I reformatted it yesterday and it's still updating... The update process for windows 7 is a mess compared to 10. As someone who reformats a lot of computers, I was all too happy to stop using windows 7.

Hi,
Win-7 does have the quality roll ups which does cut updating time quite a bit.
A lot of updates are still offered but superseded.
