Had this idea after seeing a post about it on reddit and trying to figure out what to do with an old office chair my cat shredded. Seems like it turned out really well. Total cost was about $40 bucks. $20 for the van seat from the junk yard, and about $20 for the plywood and hardware. I also have a set of office chair arms but they aren't tall enough. I'm sure if I had a lower profile seat they would be perfect. Might try this project again if I find an old office chair on craigslist for free. Lots of seat options at the junk yard. Might be good with a racing seat out of a sports car of some sort.

Haha Nice!

I did that about 6 years ago with a seat from a BMW.....didn't work out so well as it was an M3 seat designed for touring and not sitting upright at a desk. I got rid of that and bought a cadillac Escalade seat, however, I never got around to setting it up for use because it would have sat way to high and I needed to make a custom base.

I ended up getting this crazy chair instead biggrin.gif

Yeah like a really bad song on the radio that the station keeps repeating and repeating.
In time you find yourself tapping your foot and singing along.
It's like being programed.

Mine is almost too high but it ends up being perfect with my ottoman and the height of my desk. I am pretty short and my feet don't touch all the way to the ground with it all the way down. I still raise it up a tad though to be in the right position for my desk.

This is genius. A good car seat is infinitely more comfortable than most desk chairs.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's even more comfortable than the $900 office chairs we have at work and it puts my old ikea chair to shame
