Laptop Lap Desks for gaming on a couch?

Can anybody recommend a good lap desk to game while sitting on a couch? The only ones I really see don't make a lot of sense to me. Like the one below. For starters why does their need to be a phone slot? Also when I sit on my couch my waist is lower than my knees, yet most are built with cushions that are higher on the knee section, seems like it should be the opposite?? And you would think you could just turn it around, except they are built with this crappy mouse pad which would likely make your laptop sit unevenly if you just turned the pad around.

Anyway, appreciate any recommendations...btw this is the one I was talking about.

the guy I work with that's a laptop gamer (wifey gets the TV) recommends one of the cooling lap pads.
