Wait the VII isn't the 2080 competitor? It already trades blows with it. Do you mean a 2080 Ti competitor? If so, I'm waiting for that. Assuming its not gonna be 1200 bucks.
Meant to say AMD already announced the Radeon VII is a RTX competitor. It won't magically leap from over the RTX 2080 especially since nVidia improved all the weaknesses of the GTX 10 series.

Aside from gaming, for deep learning get the RTX 2080 for HPC get the Radeon VII.

I'm sure a Liquid card will be out though with 4096 cores based on the Mi60 or another Frontier Edition.
