Its not that I would not love the 3700x as it stands now but I already own an early first gen ryzen from the period prior to the linux kernel fix. So waiting this time feels sensible regardless of how much I want to support AMD.

He certainly likes to change things up. I would never have contemplated beating a dead cow.
I wouldn't let a couple of percent in actual vs rated clock put me off, these are still great CPU's afterall and with a manual OC; even better. The issue is real but being blown out of proportion imo.
