I managed to reuse the stock backplate. My screws for my water block are long enough and have enough adjustment in them to get a good mount. As for all the OC advice you gave before. I am quite good at OCíng these chips. This particular sample I have had at [email protected]
1.48V and 5GHz at 1.5 for quite some time actually. my biggest issue was the instant black screen at a 3D load. I wondered if it sitting badly in the socket might cause something like that. As you can see. I pulled her out I cleaned her up as best I could After only a week the liquid metal had already welded itself to my block. Oh well I knew the risks.
So I took her out. Doused the socket in 91% isopropyl (strongest I can find in a pharmacy in south africa) and cleaned the socket cpu pins with a toothbrush. Cleaned and removed the old LM from the die and cleaned up and polished the block as best I could. I also applied another layer of nail polish to the SMDs and whatnot around the die. Stuck her back in. And I did not tighten the screws all the way down this time. I have left some in it. So I can add more tightness if needs be.
Right now I am posting this from ghost at stock clocks. no testing yet. we are sitting at 8C package (obviously not accurate considering the ambients) and 28C socket.
