The best score I've been able to achieve with the voltmodded Radeon 7000:

The memory won't cooperate, as at 216MHz it was artifacting like crazy (yet it passed the tests) and rising the core won't help at all (been running at 450MHz but scores remained the same. memory bottleneck?).

Anyway, I'll try to find a better card, hopefully a 64MB one that has a core that overclocks as good as this one! thumb.gif

Looking over the scores in the same category, it looks like memory really is the thing that counts the most for those cards. It does seem odd that you are so far behind though, wonder what the drag is.

1. Maybe because 2K1 is a FSB lover and you're using an E6xxx?
2. What order are you running?
3. Have you gave 6.11 or 6.4 a try?

Hm, coud very well be.

On the FX6200, for example, the two dudes ahead of me both boast clockspeeds of more than a GHz above mines on the processor. This makes me rethink if clockspeed is not really important for 3DM01, as apparently what blocks me from getting better results is core speed.

I've got the FX6200 ready to be core voltmodded , we'll see how much faster it can go at higher core speeds.

Once that's done, I'll try to deduce if processor speed is really affecting performance, or it is something aliene to the hardware.

@Rasparthe: That's what I've been saying during the whole thread... It seems hard to believe that a small clock speed difference takes a performance hit of a 30-50% in most cases eek.gif

Okay I've found one of the sources of my low scores.

Most of the cards I benchmark run on 64 bit buses, but there are 128 bit variants. The 128 versions trounce the 64 bit all the times, and if compared to 64bit card scores, my results aren't that low eek.gif

I've deduced that while benchmarking the FX5200 I have plugged right now.

Running at 302/516MHz (actually 302/258, it's DDR memory) pumps 7300 3DMarks, while there's people at 14k 3DMarks. Well, most of the fastest 64-bit FX5200s are running way, WAY below mine. And by way, I mean around 1k lower.

Also, with 64bit cards I've noticed that there is an inflection point where you stop getting more points, and instead you start to lose performance with clock increases, even running overvolted! I'm pretty sure it's due to memory bottleneck.

---

I'll upload the pic tomorrow, seems like I'm struggling to repeat that score! mad.gif Can't surpass 7.1k O.o

If you found 128 and 64bit results mixed open a support ticket so Turrican can split into different categories!

Will do it, it's really unfair when you see really astronomical clock speeds pumping in most cases below 2/3 points than another guy due to that memory bus! frown.gif

Please bench this!

This is probably the fastest AGP card I could find. Too bad it won't work in my Quicksilver. frown.gif

wth.gif It took a 5 GHz Piledriver to beat an i7 2600k in PCMark. lachen.gif
